Ayana
Certified Birth & Postpartum Doula
My journey into birth and postpartum work started in healthcare. As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) through the Maryland Board of Nursing and a Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA), as well as a previous ICU and ER tech, I have cared for patients during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Through my healthcare experience, I developed strong clinical skills while discovering that one of my greatest strengths was advocating for people who felt scared, overwhelmed, or unheard. I learned the importance of listening, protecting my patients' dignity, and making sure their voices were never lost in the chaos of healthcare.
That passion took on an entirely new meaning when I experienced my own unexpected emergency delivery. I experienced firsthand how powerful compassionate support can be, and how essential it is for mothers to feel informed, respected, and genuinely cared for throughout pregnancy, birth, and their postpartum journey.
It was through that experience that I found my calling as a Birth and Postpartum Doula. Today, I combine my healthcare background with heartfelt, evidence-based support to help families navigate one of life's most transformative seasons. Whether I'm offering emotional encouragement, practical guidance, educational resources, physical support, newborn support, or simply being a calm and reassuring presence, my goal is always the same: to help every family feel confident, empowered, and supported throughout their birth and postpartum journey.

My Approach to Doula Support
A doula's role is multifaceted — emotional, physical, informational, and advocacy support.
Emotional Support
Birth can be joyful, overwhelming, scary, and beautiful — sometimes all at once. I'm there to hold space for every emotion, offering reassurance, grounding, and a calm presence when you need it most.
Physical Comfort
From counter-pressure and massage to position changes and breathing techniques, I provide hands-on comfort measures tailored to what feels good for your body in each moment.
Informational Support
I help you understand your options, ask the right questions, and make informed decisions. Knowledge is power, and I ensure you have access to evidence-based information every step of the way.
Advocacy Preparation
While I cannot speak to medical staff on your behalf, I teach you how to advocate for yourself effectively. We practice conversations, role-play scenarios, and build your confidence so your voice is heard.
